It is what it is. An odd shaped grip implement. Mine came with a slight film of lubricant, leftover from what I assume is the machining process. A few paper towels and a day of airing did the job of clearing it off. One side is flat to allow storage and slightly different grips. Be wary if you have small hands, this will be extremely difficult to train yourself with.
